Irena Giedraitienė started taking pictures in 1955 . She became a member of the Lithuanian Photography Art Society in 1970, and was awarded honorary membership in the Lithuanian Photographers Association in 2014.
I. Giedraitienė has received 38 awards, her most notable international achievement – she won the Golden Eye award of the World Press Photo in 1975.
